Lake Erie Bluffs, Lake MetroParks

Wild Beach

Have you been to Lake County’s newest park?  Lake Erie Bluffs has been open for several weeks and a beautiful park it is!   We got a chance to visit for the first time on July 8.  It was a steaming hot day, perfect for a short hike to Lake Erie.  When you pull into the parking lot you will say, where’s the lake?  Just a short 500 ft down an easy gravel path you will find an isolated, wild beach.  Just a few people were there the day we visited, several swimming in the shallow waters off the beach.  Amenities at this 139 acre park include the .57 mile gravel loop hiking trail, scenic overlook, picnic tables, fishing access and a restroom.

No lifeguards are on duty so swim at your own risk.  Kayaks may enter and exit the lake from this location but it will require carrying equipment approximately 500 yards to and from the parking lot.   It’s a peaceful spot and I can’t wait to go back at sunrise and sunset.

You can learn more about Lake Erie Bluffs in Lake County, Ohio, USA at the Lake Metroparks web site.  Directions to the site are also provided.

Here are some photos I took on our first visit.

Sally, I enjoyed your photos. This undeveloped beach does seem like a peaceful place.

Can’t remember if I ask but what are you using for your slide show on WordPress?

    • SallyK says:

My blog photos are hosted at WordPress so I only have to insert a slide show from my gallery. I add captions and there is a way to put them in an order but I find it clunky. Supposedly, you can also exclude photos in the gallery from the slideshow but I’ve never been able to get it to work. That’s why you will see some featured photos in my story that are also in the slide show.

Don't be shy, speak up!
