Eagles on our backs

You may remember two years ago we spent several wonderful days watching a pair of American Bald Eagles move into our neighborhood in the Mentor Marsh.  It was great until the NO PARKING signs went up that is.  But before they did, Dana got some fantastic photos, using his camera attached to his telescope.  You can see the full story here:  Eagle Watching on Mentor Marsh.

One of my favorite photos was this silhouette of the Mama Eagle:

Someone else liked it too.  He was asked for permission to use it on a T-shirt for the 2011 Jack King One Mile Ocean Swim in Virginia Beach, Virginia.   They were raising money to rehab eaglets whose parents were killed in a airplane collision.  He agreed to donate the image and I think the shirts came out really great!

You can read about the rescue of the eaglets here:  Eaglets Moved from Norfolk Nest  and their subsequent release:  Eagle Release at Berkley Plantation

The organizers provided a shirt for each of us.  Dana was glad to have had a small part in this successful eagle rehab project!
