Time Bandit at PPIP

Are you a fan of Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel? We are big fans of the show and when we found out that Johnathan Hillstrand of the F/V Time Bandit was going to be at the Painesville Party in the Park we had to go!

Friday night Andy, Dana and I headed over to downtown Painesville, found a great parking place and walked into the park for an evening of fair food, music and fun. Since it was dinner time and we were starving we opted for food first. There were about 40 food vendors offering typical festival foods. I chose a hot dog and fries, Dana had a brat and fries, and Andy chose pizza and my fries LOL!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Andy had a BIG piece of pizza, but he's mad because he didn't want his picture taken!

We got to listen to the band while we ate – this festival is all free, free, free, a new band every 90 minutes all weekend. When we were done we got in line to see the Hillstrands. While Andy and I waited in the relatively short line, Dana went to the Barnes and Noble booth to pick up their book, Time Bandit, and I bought a shirt for Andy. Johnathan and his son Scott were in the booth and we got to speak briefly with Johnathan. He was pretty cooked after talking to people and signing stuff since 1 pm (it was 7 when we were there) but they were both very nice, and allowed Andy to come behind the table for a photo.

It was so much fun to see them in person. Dana started the book already and I am anxious to read it too. I’ll post a book review, maybe next week. I just love “celebrity” sightings, even more when you can get an autograph.

If  you haven’t seen Deadliest Catch check it out – Captain Johnathan is definitely one of the good guys!  Click here to visit my Picasa Gallery for more photos of the Hillstrands and PPIP.  Select “Park Party” to see the photos.

We then walked over to the stage area to listen to Andy’s Last Band, a rock group. They were really good and had the whole crowd rockin’ – though I’m sure part of it was because they were right by the beer tents! Their set ended and a jazz/blues trio came on, and we moved on to peruse the rest of the fair.

Something for everyone!
