Many of you know I am part of a community of bloggers promoted by our local newspaper, the News-Herald. Each weekend they feature a story by one of their bloggers and this Sunday my article, Down Syndrome Awareness – Babies Grow Up, was chosen for the print version. This is the first time any of my writing has been “in print” and it was a treat to see it there.
My aim in writing this article was to help parents who may see the future of raising a child with Down syndrome as an overwhelming challenge. My only regret about this article was that I did not put more emphasis on all the people who helped us along the way. This is a very long list of doctors, therapists, teachers, friends and family. Many of you read my blogs – you know who you are – and I want you to know that we could never have raised Andy to be the successful young man he is today without your help!
And thank you to the News-Herald for giving me the opportunity to make my voice heard in our community.
