Today on North Coast Muse we have a guest photographer – my mother, Betty Turner! She sent me this photo of “Porch Toad”.
She believes Porch Toad is a female, because she got bigger and bigger for a while then disappeared, returning in her previous pleasingly plump form. We assume she offloaded some babies. Mom has a pair of shoes she keeps on the porch in which she discovered a small toad a few days ago.
Porch Toad lives on the porch because there is a light that stays on all night, providing her with a ready supply of flying tidbits.
Porch Toad has a friend, a big dog named Tipton.
Tipton likes to go for a run then lay on the porch until someone comes to the door and lets him back in. Mom said she went out to let him in and Porch Toad jumped out from underneath the dog. Porch Toad knows a warm spot when she finds it! Not sure what the dog gets out of it, maybe Porch Toad tells good jokes.
Do you have a porch or garden toad?

I loved the photo and story about porch toad. I can’t believe that Tipton let porch toad snuggle with him. lol
Tipton is a gentle giant … I hope Porch Toad is still there when I go down next month. Mom and my brother just removed “Porch Snake” so that should help keep Porch Toad safe.

I have a porch toad. He comes out every night when it is warm. He has been with me for at least 10 years.
Thanks for visiting! My mother thinks this is the same toad she saw last year.
I have one in my small flower bed by the back door. First year for the flowers and for him!
